# WooCommerce automation: post new products

Paste your WooCommerce store's address and Heropost reads its product feed. Each new product arrives with its name, description, link and photo, with no plugin or login.

## How it works

WooCommerce runs on WordPress, and WordPress publishes a feed of your products at your store's address followed by `/feed/?post_type=product`. Heropost reads that feed. There's no plugin to install and no login. Each new product becomes an item you can post, or that Heropost posts for you.

Your site needs WordPress's feeds switched on (they are by default) and the WooCommerce plugin installed.

## Set it up

1. Copy your store's home page address, for example `https://your-store.com`. Not the admin (`/wp-admin`).
2. In Heropost, click **Automations** in the left menu, then **Create Automation**.
3. On the **WooCommerce** card, press **Add Automation**.
4. Paste the address in **WooCommerce Store URL** and press **Save**. Heropost shows "WooCommerce automation created! Your items are being imported and will appear shortly."
5. Press **Settings** on the new automation, select your accounts, choose **Read from Source** or **Publish Immediately**, and press **Save**.

## What each item contains

| Part | From your store's product feed |
|---|---|
| Title | The product's name. |
| Description | The product's description from the feed, as plain text. |
| Link | The product page. |
| Picture | One picture: from the feed, or the product page's preview picture. |

## Settings that work well

- **Preferred Post Type:** **Link** or **Image**. **Carousel/Image** is offered, but each product comes from the feed with one picture.
- **Caption:** **Custom**, for example `New in the shop: {{title}} {{link}}`.
- **Attach Link to Caption:** **Not Link Posts Only** adds the product link to picture posts.

All settings: [Automations: how they work](/docs/automations/automations/#settings).

## If it doesn't work

First, open your store's address followed by `/feed/?post_type=product` in a private browser window, for example `https://your-store.com/feed/?post_type=product`. It should show a feed of products.

| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Invalid URL" | The address isn't complete. | Paste the full address, starting with https://. |
| "An unexpected error occurred while processing your request." when you save | Heropost couldn't read your product feed: feeds are switched off, the store is behind a login or maintenance page, or a security plugin blocks it. | Make the product feed load in a private window, then add the automation again. |
| "The supplied URL host could not be resolved: {host}." | The domain doesn't exist. | Check the spelling. |
| Blog articles appear instead of products | The address you pasted contains `/feed`, such as your blog's feed, so Heropost used it as it is. | Add a new WooCommerce automation with your store's home page address, then delete this one. |

## Questions

**Can I post my blog articles too?**

Yes, with a second automation: use [WordPress](/docs/automations/wordpress/) for articles.

**Are price changes posted?**

No. Only new products become items. Heropost recognizes products it already imported.
