# Promotion codes and referral discounts

Enter a promotion code on the payment page when you buy a plan, an AI agents add-on or a lifetime plan. A referral discount from a friend's link is applied automatically.

## Use a promotion code

1. Start buying a plan: in **Billing**, press **Get {plan}** in the **Plans** or **AI agents** section, or press **See all plans** at the bottom of Billing. For a lifetime plan, start from [heropost.ai/lifetime](https://heropost.ai/lifetime/).
2. On the secure payment page, press **Add promotion code**.
3. Enter the code and apply it. The total updates before you pay.
4. Finish paying.

## Where codes work

A code applies to a new purchase only. It can't be added to a subscription you already pay for.

## Referral discounts

Heropost members can share a referral link from **Refer & Earn**. When you open a friend's link, Heropost remembers their code in that browser and applies the discount automatically when you buy a lifetime plan. As the Refer & Earn page puts it: "It works on every Lifetime plan."

- **Use the link.** There's no box to type a referral code in Heropost: the discount comes through the link.
- **One discount at a time.** When a referral discount applies, the payment page doesn't show the promotion code field.
- **Your own link doesn't give you a discount.**
- A code that doesn't match anything is ignored, and your purchase goes through at the normal price.

## Questions

**My friend bought without using my link. Can it still count?**

From the Refer & Earn page: "Possibly. Reach out to support with your code and your friend's purchase details, and we'll do our best to credit it."


**Can I add a discount code to my current subscription?**

No. Codes work on new purchases at checkout only.


**My code isn't accepted.**

Check the spelling and whether the offer has ended. Codes only work on the purchases listed above. If it still doesn't work, contact support with the code and what you were buying.
