# MonoL.ink blocks, design and links

Everything you can put on a MonoL.ink page: link buttons with icons, colors, borders, animations and dates; embedded YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud, Vimeo, Twitch and TikTok players; social icons; a branding button; and the background.

## What a page is made of

Everything you change shows in the preview straight away, but it's saved only when you press **Create** or **Update**.

## Add a link button

1. In the preview, press **Add Element**, then **Link**. The link settings open on the right.
2. In **Destination URL**, paste the full address, starting with https://.
3. In **Button Title**, write the text on the button (up to 24 characters). The color dot sets the text color.
4. Optional: press **+** next to the title to choose an icon from **Add Icon**. The brush sets the button's color, and the border button chooses **Rounded Border**, **Straight Border** or **Round Border**.
5. Optional: choose an **Animation**: **Bounce**, **Bounce In Down**, **Fade In**, **Fade In Down**, **Fade In Down Big**, **Fade In Left**, **Flash**, **Jello**, **Pulse**, **Shake** or **Swing** (or **None**).
6. Optional: switch on **Schedule Publishing** and set a **Start Date & Time (optional)**, an **End Date & Time (optional)**, or both. The button shows only between them.
7. Press **Add**. (**Cancel** discards the button.)

While the link settings are open, the rest of the page is locked. Visitors who press the button go to its address in a new tab.

**Change or remove a button:** hover over it in the preview and press **Edit Element**, or the bin to remove it.

## Add a video or music player

Embedded players show the video or track itself on your page, not only a link.

1. Press **Add Element** and choose **YouTube**, **Spotify**, **SoundCloud**, **Vimeo**, **Twitch** or **TikTok**.
2. **Add a {Network}** opens: "Paste in your {Network} URL and we will show it on your 'monol.ink'".
3. Paste the link in **Link to social media** and press **Add**.

| Twitch | A channel (`twitch.tv/name`), a video (`twitch.tv/videos/…`) or a collection |
| TikTok | The full video link: `tiktok.com/@name/video/…` |

**Change or remove a player:** hover over it in the preview and press **Edit**. Paste a new link and press **Add**, or press the bin in the field to remove it.

## Reorder buttons and players

Drag a button or player by its handle in the preview. Social icons and the branding button always stay at the bottom.

## Add your social icons

The bottom of the preview shows nine icons: **Facebook**, **Instagram**, **Twitter**, **YouTube**, **TikTok**, **SoundCloud**, **LinkedIn**, **Spotify** and **Pinterest**. They're gray until you add a link.

1. Click a network's icon. **Add link to your {Network} account** opens.
2. Paste your profile's address in **Link to social media**.
3. Press **Add**. The icon lights up.

Click it again to change the link (**Update link to {Network} account**, then **Update**), or press the bin in the field to remove it. Each network takes one link. On the page, up to six icons fit on a row; more go on a second row.

## Add a branding button

The branding button sits at the bottom of the page, with your social icons. Use it for one message, such as "Check out my page", with an optional link.

1. Press **Add Branding** at the bottom of the preview.
2. Write the **Branding Title** (required, up to 48 characters). The smiley button adds an emoji.
3. Optional: add a **Branding URL** for it to open.
4. Press **Add**.

Click it to change it (**Edit Branding**, then **Save**), or press its bin to remove it.

## Choose the background

On the right, **Background Type** offers:

| **Color** | One color. New pages start with a color background. |
| **Image** | Your own picture: **Upload .PNG or .JPG image**, up to 3 MB. **Upload another image** replaces it. |
| **Gradient** | Two colors that blend from top to bottom. |
| **Preset** | One of six ready-made gradients. |

## Tracking codes

- **Google Analytics ID:** letters, numbers and hyphens, up to 20 characters.
- **Facebook Pixel:** numbers only, up to 20 digits.

Both are optional.

## If it doesn't work

| "Url is invalid" | The address isn't complete, or doesn't start with http:// or https://. | Paste the full address. |
| "This field is required" | A required field is empty: the button's address or title, the branding title, or a player or icon link. | Fill it in. |
| "The field value must not exceed 24" | The button title is over 24 characters. | Shorten it. |
| "The field value must not exceed 251" | The button's address is too long. | Use a shorter link. |
| "The field value must not exceed 48" | The branding title is over 48 characters. | Shorten it. |
| "Incorrect link to Youtube" (or Spotify, SoundCloud, Vimeo, Twitch, Tiktok) | The link isn't from that service. | Paste a link from the service's own site. See the table in [Add a video or music player](#add-a-video-or-music-player). |
| "Incorrect link to Instagram" (or Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest…) | The social icon's link isn't from that network. | Paste your profile's address on that network. |
| "'End Date' can't be less then 'Start Date'" or "'Start Date' can't be greater than 'End Date'" | The dates are the wrong way round. | Make the end date later than the start date. |
| A button isn't on the page | It has **Schedule Publishing** dates, and today is outside them. | Change or remove the dates. |
| A player stays blank | The link points to something the service doesn't let others embed, or a short link was used. | Use the full link to the video or track, and check it's public. |
| "Image size should not exceed 3mb" | The background picture is too big. | Use a picture under 3 MB. |
| "Please use jpg or png image format" | The background picture isn't JPG or PNG. | Save it as JPG or PNG. |

## Questions

**Can I add an email address or a phone number?**

Not as a button: a button's address must start with http:// or https://. Add a link to your contact page instead.


**Can I add Threads, WhatsApp or X icons?**

The social icons cover Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, SoundCloud, LinkedIn, Spotify and Pinterest. Use the Twitter icon for your X profile. For anything else, add a link button.


**Can I show a button only during a sale?**

Yes. Switch on **Schedule Publishing** for that button and set the start and end dates and times.


**How do I change the order of my links?**

Drag them by their handle in the preview, then press **Update**.
