# The account list is empty when connecting

When the Add Social Account window opens with nothing to tick, the network didn't share any account with Heropost. Find your network below for the usual reason and the fix.

## What you're seeing

You chose a network under **Accounts → Add Profile**, signed in, and the **Add Social Account** window opened with only the line "Please select the accounts you would like to add into Heropost", nothing to tick, and **Done** grayed out.

Heropost lists exactly what the network shares for the profile you signed in with. An empty list means the network shared nothing, almost always for one of the reasons below.

[Screenshot: The Add Social Account window with no accounts listed]

**Ticked and grayed out?** Accounts marked **Already added to this workspace** are connected already. To refresh one, use **⋮ → Reconnect** on the Accounts page instead.

## Before anything else

- **Check which profile you signed in with.** The network's window uses whichever account your browser is signed in to on that network. Sign out on the network's website, or use a private window, then add the network again with the right account.
- **Pop-ups and blockers.** If the sign-in window closed straight away and you saw "Authentication cancelled", allow pop-ups for app.heropost.io. For Facebook and Instagram, an ad blocker or tracking protection can stop the sign-in; switch it off for Heropost and reload.

## Facebook

Heropost posts to Facebook **Pages**. Personal profiles and Groups never appear, because Facebook doesn't let apps post to them.

- **You need full control of the Page.** Check your Page access on Facebook.
- **The Page wasn't ticked** when Facebook asked which Pages Heropost may use, or it's new since you last connected. On Facebook, open **Settings & privacy → Settings → Business integrations → HeroPost → View and edit**, tick every Page you want, leave all permissions on, then add Facebook again in Heropost.

→ [Connect Facebook](/docs/networks/facebook/)

## Instagram

Instagram connects through Facebook. An Instagram account appears only when:

1. it's a **Business** or **Creator** account (not personal);
2. it's **linked to a Facebook Page** you manage; and
3. you **tick that Page** (and the Instagram account) when Facebook asks.

Switch the account type and link it to a Page in the Instagram app, then add Instagram again, signing in to Facebook as an admin of that Page.

→ [Connect Instagram](/docs/networks/instagram/)

## LinkedIn

Your own LinkedIn profile is always listed. Company Pages appear only if you're a **super admin** of the Page; content admins don't see it. Ask a super admin to give you that role, then add LinkedIn again.

→ [Connect LinkedIn](/docs/networks/linkedin/)

## YouTube

Heropost lists the channels owned by the Google account you choose in Google's window.

- **No channel on that Google account:** pick the Google account that owns the channel.
- **Brand Account channels:** choose the brand channel in Google's channel chooser.
- **Managers and editors can't connect a channel.** The owner has to connect it.
- Leave the YouTube permission ticked on Google's screen.

→ [Connect YouTube](/docs/networks/youtube/)

## Pinterest

Heropost posts to Pinterest **boards**, so each board is listed as an account.

- **No boards yet:** create a board on Pinterest, then add Pinterest again.
- **Secret boards** aren't shared with apps. Make the board public to see it.
- Only the first 250 boards are listed.

→ [Connect Pinterest](/docs/networks/pinterest/)

## Google Business Profile

Heropost lists every location your Google account can manage. On Google's permission screen, **tick the box that lets Heropost manage your business profile**; if it stays unticked, no locations come through. Sign in with the Google account that manages the profile.

→ [Connect Google Business Profile](/docs/networks/google-business/)

## Reddit

Heropost lists the subreddits Reddit shares as ones you can post to as an approved user (Reddit calls this a contributor). Subreddits you've only joined don't appear. Ask the subreddit's moderators to add you as an approved user, then add Reddit again.

→ [Connect Reddit](/docs/networks/reddit/)

## Telegram

Telegram works through your own bot, in the **Add Telegram Account** window:

- The bot must be an **administrator** of the channel or group.
- If you leave **Username or ChatId (optional)** empty, Heropost looks through the bot's recent chats. Only chats with recent activity and a public @username or invite link show up. Post something in the channel, then try again, or type the channel's @username or chat ID.

→ [Connect Telegram](/docs/networks/telegram/)

## X, TikTok, Threads and Bluesky

These connect the one account you sign in with. If the wrong account appears, sign out of it on the network's website (or use a private window) and add the network again. TikTok can't be connected from India, where TikTok is blocked.

## Still empty?

## Questions

**Can I connect a Facebook Group or my personal Facebook profile?**

No. Facebook only lets apps post to Pages.

**The list shows my accounts, but not the new one I created.**

Add the network again and tick the new account when the network asks. Facebook only shares what you allowed the last time you connected, so for a new Page or Instagram account, also tick it under **Business integrations → HeroPost → View and edit** on Facebook.

**Can a client connect their accounts without giving me their password?**

Yes. Use **Invite Profile** on the Accounts page. See [Let a client connect their own accounts](/docs/social-accounts/invite-a-client/).
