Export your analytics to CSV

Download the results behind Analytics as a CSV file, with one row per post per account. What's in the file, how your filters shape it, and what can't be exported.

How it works#

The download icon in Analytics exports the posts behind your current filters to a CSV file, which opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. The file has one row per post per account: a post published to three accounts is three rows.

The export follows your filters, not the view: Table view, Pivot view and Timeline view all give the same file.

Download the CSV#

  1. Click Analytics in the left menu. Use a computer: the phone layout has no export.
  2. Set the Period, and if you need to, the Workspaces, Social Networks and accounts.
  3. Press the download icon (Download raw data as CSV) next to the account selector. It spins while the file is prepared.
  4. The file, insights.csv, opens in a new tab and downloads. If nothing happens, allow pop-ups for app.heropost.io and press the icon again.

What's in the file#

Column What it holds
Workspace ID, Workspace The workspace the post belongs to.
Post ID, Post The post's number in Heropost, and its title (or the start of its caption).
Post Date (UTC) When it was published, in UTC.
Post Date (Local) When it was published, in the workspace's time zone.
Platform The network.
Account ID, Account The account it was published to.
Unique Views Reach. Empty for Facebook Page posts, because Facebook doesn't report it.
Total Views Views.
Impressions Filled for LinkedIn Pages only.
Reactions, Comments, Shares As in Analytics.

An account or workspace that has since been deleted shows as "(deleted)".

The file covers the same networks as Analytics: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn Pages, YouTube and Threads. See Which networks are included.

What the file follows#

  • Period: posts published in the period, with their results to date.
  • Workspaces, networks and accounts: as selected.
  • Your own plan's history: a period that goes further back than your plan allows can't be exported. See How far back you can look.
  • Ownership: only workspaces you own. In someone else's workspace, the file has no posts.

What can't be exported#

  • A PDF, or a report sent by email or on a schedule.
  • Your posts or captions (the text you scheduled). The analytics CSV is the only export.
  • The pivot table as you arranged it. Rebuild it in your spreadsheet from the CSV.
  • Follower growth.

If it doesn't work#

What you see What it means What to do
The icon spins, then nothing opens The browser blocked the new tab. Allow pop-ups for app.heropost.io and press the icon again.
The file has only column names No posts with results for your filters, or the workspace belongs to someone else. Choose a longer period or other networks. Ask the workspace owner for a copy.
"Looks like you've reached the limit of your plan. Please upgrade your account to access for features." The period goes further back than your plan allows. Pick a shorter period.
Time to Level up! Your plan is the original Lifetime plan, which covers the last 7 days. Export "Last 7 days", or press Upgrade.
"An unexpected error occurred while processing your request." The file couldn't be prepared. Try again. If it repeats, contact support.

Questions#

Why does one post appear on several rows?

The file has one row per account. A post published to a Facebook Page and two Instagram accounts is three rows, each with that account's results.

Which time zone are the dates in?

Both: Post Date (UTC) in UTC, and Post Date (Local) in the workspace's time zone.

Can I export my scheduled posts or captions?

No. Heropost doesn't export posts or captions. The analytics CSV is the only export.

Does the CSV include my follower counts?

No. Follower growth is only shown on the Analytics page.
