Why posting to X uses credits#
"X (Twitter) charges Heropost for every post published through its API. Credits cover that cost — one credit per post, and they never expire."
This applies on every plan, lifetime plans included. No other network uses credits.
How X credits work#
- One credit publishes one post to one X account. A post sent to two X accounts uses two credits.
- A credit is used when the post publishes. If X rejects the post, the credit comes back.
- Purchased credits never expire.
- Credits are shared. They belong to the Heropost account that owns the workspace, and every X account in that owner's workspaces uses the same balance. In a workspace someone else owns, X posts use the owner's credits.
- New accounts get 5 X credits to try X with the free trial.
- Free monthly credits: Heropost accounts that had X connected before X credits started in July 2026 get 10 free X posts a month. They reset on the 1st of each month (UTC) and are used before purchased credits.
- Daily limit: each X account can publish up to 50 posts a day through Heropost (UTC day).
- Connecting a new X account needs credits. Without any, you'll see "Connecting an X account requires X posting credits. Purchase an X credit pack first." Reconnecting an X account you already have doesn't need credits.
See your balance#
- Billing → Usage → X posting credits shows "{n} available".
- Billing → Add-ons → X posting credits reads "You have {n} X credits left. One credit publishes one post to X. Credits never expire."
- In the post editor, a banner appears on X posts when you have 10 credits or fewer: "You can still post — {n} X credits left (1 credit = 1 post). Top up anytime." At zero: "You have no X posting credits left — posts to X will fail until you buy more." Both have a Buy X credits button.
Buy a pack#
| Pack | Credits | Price | Roughly |
|---|---|---|---|
| X Access | 120 | $13.95, one-time | 4 posts a day for a month |
| X Pro | 300 | $34.95, one-time | 10 posts a day for a month |
| X Max | 600 | $69.95, one-time | 20 posts a day for a month |
Packs are a one-time payment, not a subscription.
- Click your name at the bottom of the left menu, then Billing.
- Under Add-ons → X posting credits, press the pack you want (120 credits, 300 credits or 600 credits). Or press See details → to compare the packs on the Buy X posting credits page.
- Pay on the secure payment page.
- You'll see "Your X credits have been added to your account. Happy posting!" Press Proceed to go back to the post editor.
You can also open the packs from Buy X credits in the editor banner.
When you run out#
The X part of the post fails and the other networks publish as normal.
- On Content → Posting Errors, the X entry reads "You have no X posting credits left. Buy an X credit pack to continue posting to X."
- In the editor, hovering the X account shows "You've used this month's X posting credits. Buy an X credit pack to keep posting to {account} — free monthly credits reset on the 1st." with a Buy X credits link.
Failed posts aren't sent again automatically. After you buy credits, open the post from Posting Errors and use Duplicate Failed to send the X part again. See The Posting Errors page.
To stop X posts from failing without buying credits, untick your X accounts when you schedule, and remove them from your post groups and automations.

Questions#
Do failed X posts use credits?
No. If X rejects the post, the credit comes back.
Does my lifetime plan include X credits?
No. X credits are separate on every plan, because X charges for every post.
Can I use a promotion code on an X pack?
No. X packs have no promotion code field.
Can I post longer than 280 characters with X Premium?
No. Heropost keeps X posts to 280 characters, counted the way X counts them. See Connect X.
