Let a client connect their own accounts

Send a client an invite link with Invite Profile. They sign in to their networks on a Heropost page and their accounts land in your workspace, with no shared passwords and no Heropost login.

How it works#

Invite Profile emails your client a link to a Heropost page called Connect Social Accounts. On that page they sign in to their own networks and pick their Pages and profiles, and those accounts are added to your workspace. They don't need a Heropost account, and you never see their passwords.

  • The link adds accounts to the workspace you're in when you send it.
  • It works for 7 days, and your client can use it to connect as many accounts as they like in that time.
  • Accounts they connect count toward your plan (the workspace owner's), and the same rules apply as when you connect accounts yourself, including X credits for X.
  • Your client only sees the connect page. They can't see your workspace, posts or other accounts.

Send an invite#

  1. Switch to the client's workspace. The link always connects to the workspace you're in.
  2. Click your workspace name at the top of Heropost, then Accounts.
  3. Press Invite Profile.
  4. Enter your client's Email. Add their Full Name if you like; it's used in the email.
  5. Press Send. Heropost shows Invitation sent to {email}.

Only the workspace owner and Admins see Invite Profile. On a phone, it's the Invite profile button on the Social accounts page.

What your client does#

Send your client these steps, or a link to this section.

  1. Open the email from Heropost and click the link. The Connect Social Accounts page opens: "Use the button below to connect a social profile to this workspace."
  2. Press Add Profile and choose a network.
  3. Sign in to that network with the account that manages the Page or profile, and allow access.
  4. In Add Social Account, tick the accounts to share and press Done. The page shows Account successfully added.
  5. Repeat from step 2 for each network.

The page doesn't list what's been connected, so ask your client to tell you when they're done. Each network has its own requirements (for example, a Facebook Page with full control, or an Instagram Business or Creator account linked to a Page). Share the relevant network page with them.

Check what your client connected#

Open Accounts in the same workspace. Your client's accounts appear there like any other: you can post to them, add a watermark or remove them. If one needs reconnecting later, that takes a sign-in by someone who manages it on the network, usually your client.

If it doesn't work#

What you see What it means What to do
"Email is required" or "Please enter a valid email address" The email address is missing or mistyped. Check the address and press Send again.
"Failed to send invitation" The invite wasn't sent. The window stays open. Press Send again. If it repeats, contact support.
Your client didn't get the email It may be in spam, or the address was mistyped. Ask them to check spam, then send a new invite.
The link doesn't work for your client Links work for 7 days. Send a new invite.
"Authentication cancelled" on your client's screen The network's sign-in window was closed or blocked. Ask them to allow pop-ups and try again.
Your client connected, but nothing appears in your workspace Your plan may have no room for more accounts, or, for X, you have no X credits. Click your name at the bottom of the left menu, then Billing, and check Usage. Remove accounts you don't use or upgrade, and buy X credits if needed. Then ask your client to try again. See account limits.
Your client's Page or account isn't in the list They don't have the right role on the network, or didn't tick it in the network's window. See the network's page, for example Facebook or Instagram.

Questions#

Does my client need a Heropost account?

No. The link opens a page that works without signing in to Heropost.

Can my client see my posts or other accounts?

No. The page only lets them connect accounts. It doesn't show your workspace.

Can one link connect several accounts?

Yes. Until the link expires after 7 days, your client can connect as many accounts and networks as they need.

How is this different from inviting a team member?

Invite Profile only lets someone connect accounts. To let someone work in your workspace, writing and scheduling posts, invite them to your team instead: see Invite your team.

How does my client stop sharing an account later?

They can remove Heropost's access in that network's settings, and you can remove the account from your workspace.
