How it works#
On the calendar's Month view you can drag a scheduled post to another day. It keeps its time of day. The rest of this page covers what the calendar shows: which accounts, which statuses and networks, and what each color and marker on a post means.
Drag a post to another day#
- Open Calendar in the Month view.
- Drag a scheduled post onto another day. The post turns see-through and the day under the pointer turns blue.
- Let go. The post moves to that day at the same time of day, and Heropost confirms, for example "Post rescheduled to Oct 9, 3:15 PM".
- There's no confirmation. To undo, drag the post back.
- The new day must be in the future. You can't drop a post on a past day, or on today if its time has already passed.
- Month view, on a computer. The week and day views, and the phone layout, don't support dragging. On a touch-screen computer, press and hold the post for a moment, then drag.
- Owners, Admins and Editors can drag. Viewers can't.
- The time in the message is shown on a 12-hour clock, in the workspace's time zone.
Other ways to change a post's date#
| Where | How |
|---|---|
| Post editor | Open the post and press Edit. It goes back to Draft. Change the date under Schedule, then press Schedule All. See Edit, reschedule or delete a post. |
| Grid Planner (Instagram) | Click the post, use Reschedule, then Save. See Plan your Instagram grid. |
| Hero_Agent | On Home, ask "Move post #12 to Friday at 9 AM", or press Change time on a post's card. You approve the new time before it changes. |
Show or hide accounts#
The row of account pictures at the top right of the calendar decides whose posts you see.
- Click a picture to show or hide that account's posts. Shown accounts are in full color with a ring; hidden ones are faded.
- Hover over a picture for the account's name and @handle.
- Open the arrow at the end of the row for the Accounts panel: every account with a switch and its network, plus Select All and Unselect All. With more than five accounts, a Search box appears.
Good to know:
- The selection is saved for the whole workspace. Everyone in it sees the same accounts switched on.
- New and reconnected accounts are switched on automatically.
- If every account is off when the calendar opens, Heropost switches on the first account in alphabetical order.
- A post shows when at least one of its accounts is switched on.
Filter by status or network#
The filter bar sits under the controls:
- Status: All, Draft, Scheduled or Published. The calendar shows scheduled and published posts only, so Draft leaves it empty. Drafts are under Content → Drafts, and in the Feed.
- Platform: All, plus one button per network among this period's posts, such as Instagram or Google (Google Business Profile). It appears when the period has posts on more than one network. A post shows if any of its networks matches.
Filters reset when you leave the calendar. On a phone, the same filters appear as chips.
What the colors and markers mean#
| Marker | What it means |
|---|---|
| Blue stripe on the left (month view) | Scheduled, or being published right now. Future repeats of a repeating post are blue too. |
| Green stripe | Published |
| Dark red stripe | At least one account failed |
| Red dot at the top right of a post | At least one account failed (all views) |
| Red dot on an account picture | That account failed, or was removed from Heropost ("This account is deleted"). Hover for the reason. |
| +N next to the account pictures | More accounts. Hover to list them. |
| Story, Video, Carousel, Link, Photo, Text | The kind of post |
| "Post: {number}" | The post has no title |
| A "not available" picture | The post's media is no longer available |
| Faded day | A day in the past |
| Highlighted day number | Today |
Why an account failed#
Hover over the account picture with the red dot to see why. These are the reasons Heropost explains in its own words; for any other failure, you see the network's own message.
| Reason shown | What to do |
|---|---|
| "{account} is paused, so this post was not published to it. Reconnect or contact support to resume posting." | See What the account markers mean. |
| "{account} has been suspended by X. Posting is not possible until X reinstates the account." | Resolve it with X first. |
| "The X connection for {account} has expired. Reconnect the account to resume posting." | Reconnect the X account. |
| "X did not allow this post for {account}. Please check the account's status and permissions on x.com." | Check the account on x.com. |
| "{account} is locked by X. Unlock it on x.com, then publish again." | Unlock it on x.com, then send the post again. |
| "X posting is temporarily unavailable. If the issue persists, please contact support." | A temporary problem between Heropost and X; no credit is used. If it lasts, contact support. |
| "You've used this month's X posting credits. Buy an X credit pack to keep posting to {account} — free monthly credits reset on the 1st." | Buy X credits: click your name at the bottom of the left menu, then Billing, and choose a pack under Add-ons. See X credits. |
| "{account} reached the daily X posting limit. Posting will resume tomorrow." | Each X account can publish up to 50 posts a day (UTC). Send it again tomorrow. |
Failed posts aren't sent again by themselves. Once you've fixed the cause, open the post's ⋮ menu and choose Duplicate Failed: it copies the post for the failed accounts only, ready to schedule. All recent failures are listed under Content → Posting Errors: see The Posting Errors page.
If it doesn't work#
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Failed to reschedule post", with "It is impossible to set this time: {date}, because it does not meet the requirement: the time must be more than the current one (UTC + 0) by 10 seconds and the number of seconds must be 0." | You dropped the post on a past day, or on today after its time. | Drop it on a later day, or open the post and set a new time. |
| A post won't drag | You're in the week or day view, on a phone or tablet layout, or your role is Viewer. | Switch to Month on a computer. Viewers can't move posts. |
| "Viewers cannot create or modify content in this workspace." | Your role in this workspace is Viewer. | Ask the workspace owner for the Editor or Admin role. |
| The calendar went empty | Every account is switched off, or a filter hides everything. | Open the account row's arrow and press Select All. Set Status and Platform to All. |
| No Platform filter | This period's posts are all on one network. | Nothing to do. It appears when there's more than one. |
Questions#
Does dragging change the time of the post?
No. The post keeps its time of day and moves to the new date. To change the time, open the post in the editor.
Can my teammates see the accounts I switched off?
Yes. The account selection is saved for the whole workspace, so everyone in it sees the same accounts.
How do I see only one client's posts?
Give each client their own workspace, and switch workspace at the top. Within a workspace, open the account row's arrow, press Unselect All, then switch on that client's accounts.
Why is the calendar empty when I choose Draft?
Drafts aren't placed on the calendar. You'll find them under Content → Drafts, or with the Draft filter in the Feed.
