How it works#
Etsy publishes a public feed of each shop's listings. Paste your shop's address, and Heropost reads that feed: there's no Etsy login or app. Each new listing becomes an item you can post, or that Heropost posts for you.
Set it up#
- Open your shop's page on Etsy and copy the address, for example
https://www.etsy.com/shop/YourShopName. Use the shop page, not a single listing. - In Heropost, click Automations in the left menu, then Create Automation.
- On the Etsy card, press Add Automation.
- Paste the address in Etsy Shop URL and press Save. Heropost shows "Etsy automation created! Your items are being imported and will appear shortly."
- Press Settings on the new automation, select your accounts, choose Read from Source or Publish Immediately, and press Save.
What each item contains#
| Part | From your shop's feed |
|---|---|
| Title | The listing's title. |
| Description | The listing's description as plain text. |
| Link | The listing's page on Etsy. |
| Picture | One picture: from the feed, or the listing page's preview picture. |
Settings that work well#
- Preferred Post Type: Image to show the listing photo, or Link for the Etsy card on networks that take link posts. Carousel/Image is offered, but each listing comes with one picture.
- Caption: Custom is filled with "New product:" followed by
{{title}}, and{{link}}on the next line. Make it yours, for exampleNew in the shop: {{title}} {{link}}. - Attach Link to Caption: Not Link Posts Only adds the listing link to picture posts.
All settings: Automations: how they work.
If it doesn't work#
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Invalid URL" | The address isn't complete. | Paste the full address, starting with https://. |
| "An unexpected error occurred while processing your request." when you save | Heropost couldn't read a shop at that address: it's a listing or search page, or the shop name is mistyped. | Copy the address of your shop's main page: https://www.etsy.com/shop/YourShopName. |
| A listing is missing | Heropost imports the listings in Etsy's shop feed, and auto-posting covers only listings it finds after you switch it on. | Post other listings from the post editor, or from the feed with Create Post. |
Questions#
Do I need to connect my Etsy account?
No. Heropost reads your shop's public feed. Nothing changes in your Etsy account.
Is a listing posted again when I edit it?
No. Heropost recognizes items it already imported, so an edited listing isn't imported twice.
