How connecting works#
You connect a social account by signing in to the network in a small window that the network controls, and allowing Heropost to post for you. Heropost never sees your password for these networks. Then you choose which Pages, profiles or channels to add. Each one you add becomes an account in the current workspace, ready to post to.
Telegram and Bluesky work differently: Telegram uses a bot you create, and Bluesky asks for your username and an app password. Their pages explain the steps: Telegram, Bluesky.
Before you start#
- Be in the right workspace. Accounts are added to the workspace you're in. Switch first if needed: see Workspaces.
- Be the workspace owner or an Admin. Only they see Add Profile.
- Allow pop-ups for app.heropost.io. The network's sign-in opens in a pop-up window.
- For Facebook and Instagram, switch off ad blockers and tracking protection for Heropost. They can stop Facebook's sign-in from loading.
- Have the right role on the network. For example, full control of a Facebook Page, Super admin of a LinkedIn Page, or owner of a YouTube channel. Each network's page lists what you need.
- X needs X credits. See Connect X.
Connect an account#
- Click your workspace name at the top of Heropost, then Accounts. The Social Accounts for: page opens for that workspace.
- Press Add Profile. The Add Social Accounts window shows one logo per network.
- Click the logo of the network you want.
- The network's sign-in opens in a pop-up. Sign in with the account that manages what you want to add, and allow access.
- Back in Heropost, the Add Social Account window lists what the network shared, in sections such as Pages, Profiles or Channels. Tick the ones you want, or use Select All.
- Press Done. Heropost shows Account successfully added, and the accounts appear on the page.
A few things to know about the Add Social Account window:
- With more than five results, a Search box appears. It searches names and descriptions.
- Accounts already in this workspace are ticked, grayed out and labeled Already added to this workspace.
- Done stays grayed out until you tick at least one account.
- X and TikTok skip this window: the account you signed in with is added straight away.
Other ways in:
- On Home, click Add a social account. It opens the same Add Social Accounts window.
- The Accounts button in the workspace menu is shown to the workspace owner only. Admins can open the page at app.heropost.io/social-accounts.
- On a phone: tap the workspace picture in the bottom bar, then Social accounts → + Connect an account → + Add profile.

The dimmed logos at the end of the Add Social Accounts window can't be connected. For a side-by-side view of what you can post where, see Networks at a glance.
After you connect#
- The account counts toward your plan. Every account in every workspace you own counts, including ones your Admins or clients connect. See How many accounts and workspaces your plan includes.
- Drafts pick it up. Heropost ticks the new account on drafts in this workspace that already post to that network. Check those drafts before you schedule them.
- You can add the same account to another workspace. Switch workspaces and connect it again. Each copy counts as one account.
Let a client connect their own accounts#
If you manage accounts for clients, you don't need their passwords. Send them an invite link and they connect their accounts straight into your workspace. See Let a client connect their own accounts.
If it doesn't work#
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Authentication cancelled" | The sign-in window was closed or blocked, or access wasn't allowed. | Allow pop-ups for app.heropost.io and try again. Allow access when the network asks. |
| "Facebook's sign-in could not open because Facebook's script did not load in this browser. If you use an ad blocker or tracking protection, switch it off for Heropost, then reload the page and try again." | An ad blocker, privacy extension or strict tracking protection blocked Facebook's sign-in. | Switch it off for app.heropost.io, reload, and try again. A private window without extensions is a quick test. |
| Nothing happens when you click a logo, or Heropost keeps loading | The pop-up was blocked or closed early. | Reload the page, allow pop-ups, and try again. |
| The Add Social Account window is empty | The network didn't share any account you can add. | See The account list is empty when connecting and the network's page. |
| "This account cannot be added to the workspace, as it already exists." | That account is already in this workspace. | Nothing to do. To renew its connection, use Reconnect: see Reconnect an account. |
| "Looks like you've reached the limit of your plan. Please upgrade your account to access for features." | You've reached your plan's number of accounts. The sign-in completes, but the account isn't added. | Remove an account you don't use, or upgrade. See account limits. |
| "Your account doesn't have an active plan. Please upgrade to use this feature." | The workspace owner has no active plan. | The owner chooses a plan: click your name at the bottom of the left menu, then Billing. See Plans compared. |
| Time to Level up! window, "Upgrade to get unlimited access and unlock more features." | Your plan doesn't include this network. The original Lifetime plan can't connect X, TikTok, Google Business Profile, Threads or Bluesky. | Press Upgrade to see plans, or see Lifetime plans explained. |
| "Connecting an X account requires X posting credits. Purchase an X credit pack first." | A new X account needs X credits. | Click your name at the bottom of the left menu, then Billing, and buy a pack under Add-ons. Then connect X again. See Connect X. |
| "Failed to connect X account. Please try again." | The X sign-in didn't complete. | Try again. If it repeats, contact support. |
Still stuck? Contact support with the network's name, a screenshot of the last screen you saw and the time you tried.
Questions#
Can I connect my personal Facebook profile or a Facebook Group?
No. Facebook only lets apps publish to Pages, and Meta no longer lets apps post to Groups. You can connect any Page you manage with full control.
Does Heropost see or store my social network passwords?
Not for networks that use a sign-in window: you sign in on the network's own page. Bluesky is the exception: it asks for a password, so use an app password made for Heropost. Telegram uses your bot's token.
Can my team members connect accounts?
The workspace owner and Admins can. Accounts they connect count toward the owner's plan. Other roles can't add accounts.
I connected a Page in one workspace. Why isn't it in my other workspace?
Accounts belong to the workspace you connected them in. Switch to the other workspace and connect the Page there too.
Can I connect more than one account per network?
Yes, as many as your plan allows. Tick several Pages or channels in the same sign-in, or repeat the steps signed in as another account.
